Course Details

Delivery: Four day face-to-face program.

Cost: $500.00 per person

Credit: Provide evidence of prior completion of SITXFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol (RSA) or SITXFSA005 Use hygiene practices for food safety for a discounted rate of $450.00 for the RISE program (usually $500.00).

Requirements

  • No formal entry requirements.
  • You must be 18 years of age at course commencement.
  • A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required. Create yours at www.usi.gov.au
  • Undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills (LLND) test. Students who do not receive a satisfactory result in the LLND test may still be enrolled if endorsed by the trainer and corresponding additional support strategies are in place. 
  • Photo identification (passport or drivers’ licence).
  • Successful completion of all assessments which includes a variety of questioning techniques such as multiple-choice and short answer as well as role-play scenarios.
  • Please read the ERDI Academy Student Handbook for more information, as well as the Policies & Procedures including RPL and Credit Procedure prior to enrolling.
  • To ensure food safety procedures are followed, please wear comfortable clothing and flat, enclosed footwear, tie back long hair and remove all unnecessary jewellery.

Course Overview

Our Inclusive Industry Bootcamp is a hands-on program designed to build the skills and confidence needed for a career in hospitality. Training is delivered in a real hotel environment, providing a practical experience that mirrors industry operations.

You will take part in engaging practical workshops covering:

  • Food and beverage service
  • Using POS/EFTPOS systems
  • Delivering great customer service
  • Espresso coffee basics
  • Preparing for industry (includes hotel tour)

Course Agenda

Day 1: Online

SITHFAB021 Responsible service of alcohol

  • Understanding the legal responsibilities and requirements for serving alcohol responsibly
  • Practical strategies for managing challenging situations related to alcohol service
  • Assessment and certification of Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)

Access to online modules is granted upon enrolment, allowing the flexibility to complete the content self-paced over a two-week period.

Online modules must be completed prior to the commencement of the face-to-face training. Any outstanding practical assessments can be completed during the in-class sessions at Erdi Academy.

Students completing online courses can join our virtual support sessions for help and guidance with their studies.

SITXFSA005 Use hygiene practices for food safety

  • Overview of food safety principles, hygiene practices and legal requirements
  • Understanding the hazards of food contamination and methods of prevention
  • Assessment and certification of accredited Food Handlers Certificate

Access to online modules is granted upon enrolment, allowing the flexibility to complete the content self-paced over a two-week period.

Online modules must be completed prior to the commencement of the face-to-face training. Any outstanding practical assessments can be completed during the in-class sessions at Erdi Academy.

Students completing online courses can join our virtual support sessions for help and guidance with their studies.

Food Service Skills

  • Understanding the basics of food service, including table setting, order taking, serving food and clearing tables
  • Plate carrying techniques (a la carte or functions)
  • Introduction to upselling and cross-selling techniques to increase revenue and enhance customer experience

Point of Sale (POS) and EFTPOS Operation

  • Overview of point-of-sale systems and electronic funds transfer at point of sale (EFTPOS)
  • Understanding key functions and features of POS software
  • Practical training in processing transactions, managing orders, and handling payments

Quality Customer Service

  • Importance of delivering exceptional customer service in the hospitality industry
  • Strategies for building rapport, active listening, resolving customer complaints and handling difficult customers
  • Role-playing scenarios to practice effective communication and problem-solving skills

Espresso Coffee Basics

  • Fundamentals of espresso coffee preparation, including grinding, tamping, and extraction
  • Introduction to espresso-based beverages such as espresso, macchiato, cappuccino and latte
  • Hands-on practice operating an espresso machine and creating basic coffee drinks

Preparing for Industry

  • Reflecting on the skills learned and experiences gained during the workshop
